The Fatherhood Initiative’s first TFI Roundtable features Tony Jordan, Youth Engagement Director at the Rochester City School District and leader of Operation F.I.R.E. – Fathers Initiating Restorative Engagement – made up of local dads who want to help stop the violence plaguing our city schools.
Volunteers are spending time with students at Franklin High and Edison Tech during the school day, hanging out in the lunchroom, playing games and listening to the kids. Their long-term mission is to be Godly Father Figures and role models to the kids, especially those who don’t have a dad at home.
Tony Jordan says that so far the students are receptive. Eventually the district plans to expand the program to all RCSD schools, but more volunteers are needed. For information on how to get involved, email fire@rcsdk12.org or call 585-262-8362.
