“I keep marveling at the men and women who come out to work with an at risk city kid,” said YFC Executive Director Mike Hennessy. “The only curriculum you need is to bring the Father’s heart.”
“Coming from a divorced home I have some sense of what a fatherless child is going through,” said one mentor recently. “The Lord was just tugging at my heart, saying, ‘You know, you need to do this.'”
“You can’t fake caring for somebody,” said another volunteer, who was unsure at first whether the kids would be able to relate to him. “If you give consistency and you give them smiles and hugs and words of encouragement, you can cross any cultural line.”
